Why is Chat GPT Not Working Today November 9th?

[ad_1]

The popular AI chatbot ChatGPT is offline for many users today, November 9, 2023. The cause appears to be a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack that overloads ChatGPT’s servers.

When users try to access the service, they receive error messages such as “ChatGPT is currently full” and “Something went wrong”. If this issue persists, please contact us through our Help Center.”

The DDoS attack was claimed by a hacker group called Anonymous Sudan. In a message, the group stated that they launched the attack because of what they see as ChatGPT’s “bias against Israel and against Palestine.”

In addition to the DDoS attack, high traffic volumes and other technical issues may be contributing to ChatGPT’s current problems. OpenAI’s AI chatbot has seen a surge in popularity recently, which has undoubtedly put a strain on infrastructure.

OpenAI has confirmed that they are investigating the issue and working to mitigate the DDoS attack. There is no estimate yet when ChatGPT will be back online and stable for all users.

Even those with ChatGPT Plus priority access have been affected by the outages. OpenAI has suggested users clear cookies, try different devices and check server status updates as a workaround while the problems persist.

This isn’t the first time ChatGPT has experienced outages since launching to the public. However, today’s attack shows that malicious actors are targeting ChatGPT to purposely disrupt the service. OpenAI will need to continue to improve security and capacity to maintain reliability.
