Google, an “AI-First Company,” has been launching its foundational multimodal large language model for its products and services for more than a decade. As expected, it is a rival to ChatGPT. This will be added to searches and ads next year. The company has reduced latency for English in the US by 40% and made many more improvements under the hood. Since the beginning of this year, Google has declared code red to catch up with ChatGPT.
It was first announced at the Google I/O Developer Conference in June. Google’s DeepMind has made a quantum leap in AI models that will further improve the company’s products and services. It adds more problem-solving skills, especially in math and science, which are said to improve people’s lives. Once again, the AI industry is stepping up its potential AI applications with Gemini, which is trained to behave just like humans.
What is Google Gemini AI?
Google’s advanced multimodal AI model can handle different input types. Based on the user’s prompt in natural language, it can generate content. The Gemini series has three different variants: Gemini Nano, Gemini Pro and Gemini Ultra. Initially, the company unveiled the Nano and Pro, while the Ultra will be announced next year.
- Gemini Nano: It is intended for on-device tasks such as intelligent answers, call recording summary, and more.
- Gemini Pro: Designed for high-performance features across the board.
- Gemini Ultra: aimed at performing complex tasks such as understanding text, images and videos.
Google’s Gemini has reportedly outperformed OpenAI’s GPT 3.5, which was released a year ago. Google’s competitor to OpenAI’s GPT-4 has yet to be ready. Currently, Gemini AI is available in English, and we can expect more languages to receive support soon, similar to the company’s previous AI models. This leads to more accurate and high-quality answers.
Additionally, Google has updated its new code generation tool for writing code called AlphaCode 2, which is said to be 85% better than the competition and 50% better than its predecessor. It’s also quite efficient, trained on Google’s own TensorSoc, and with the updated TPU v5p it can now be used in training and enterprise data centers.
Starting early next year, Gemini will eventually be integrated into Google Search Engine, Chrome, Workspace, and others. Google also announced that a more advanced version of Gemini, called Gemini Ultra, will be unveiled in 2024.
Google Gemini AI login
The tool is free to use. Google is integrated Gemini’s version of Pro in the Bard AI Chatbotwhich is available in more than 170 countries.
Before you continue, note that it is not currently available in the European Union (EEA) and you cannot use Bard with a Google Account managed by Family Link or Google Workspace for Education.
- Visit Google Bard in your web browser.
- Then log in with your personal Google account to access Bard.
- Then you can use Gemini Pro within Bard to experience Google’s advanced text-based capabilities.
Compared to similar AI models like GPT-4, which costs $20 monthly, making Gemini accessible to everyone could help Google make a leap.
Remark: Please note that Google Gemini is still in the early stages of development for consumers. Also, don’t share confidential or personal information, as the company is trained in that data, but have a human review the prompt.
Under the hood, Google has started rolling out the December feature drop for its Google Pixel 8 Pro with Gemini AI capabilities. It is said to provide AI suggested answers on WhatsApp using GBoard. Moreover, it can also summarize call recordings on the device. Additionally, after testing Gemini through Bard, Google will add Gemini capabilities to Google SGE (Search Genative Experience).
Google Bard Advance
This is a small update for Bard. The underlying technology of Gemini Ultra will release a major update next year. A notable feature of Bard Advance is its ability to recognize text, photos and videos. Furthermore, with Bard’s previous update, the chatbot, like the extension integration, has become a more robust ecosystem.
Conclusion
Google doesn’t have a dedicated AI model for images and voices, like OpenAI’s DALL-E and Whisper. Gemini is just a text-in-and-out AI model. Gemini Ultra is said to be more advanced, but how competing AI models like ChatGPT will fare remains to be seen. Additionally, many feature and product releases have been postponed due to recent controversies.
Looking ahead, Google will announce developer platforms like OpenAI’s Playground on December 13, where you can get test environments to develop products by integrating Gemini. Naturally, many people are concerned about AI, arguing that AI could eventually eclipse human intelligence, resulting in job losses and the sharing of misinformation.
