Shutterstock has announced the AI Image Editor. Shutterstock has a vast library of media repositories that integrate Generative AI, which allows users to generate images with natural language text prompts. The company strives to provide its customers with the best images for their work. Over the past two years, Shutterstock has collaborated with OpenAI, Meta, and LG AI Research on generative AI efforts, and it is available in multiple languages, including paid customer plans.
This makes it accessible to more than 750 million photo libraries. Many news media companies, multinationals, large and small corporations, and publications use stock photos to illustrate articles. The company wants to help users fine-tune the new feature, using OpenAI technology to edit and transform images in the library we’ll discuss. Shutterstock notes that artists will be compensated if their images are licensed after editing.
How to use Shutterstock AI for image generation
To generate AI art, you can use OpenAI’s DALL-E 2 and the EXAONE AI model, which is trained using a dataset licensed from Shutterstock. You can start using this, but there is a free trial for a limited time. It would be best if you were logged in as this requires signing up with Shutterstock.

Shutterstock warned about this feature. Similar latencies were found on competing AI image generators and editing platforms. This feature is finally live and ready to use.
Generating Shutterstock AI images requires a Creative Flow+ subscription, which costs $12.99 per month after a one-month free trial, but users can test this feature for free on their website. Contributors also receive royalties for licensing their original content.
Currently, Shutterstock strictly limits users from uploading AI-generated images to the platform as they are not accepted as submissions for licensing on the platform to further ensure the protection of contributors’ intellectual property and proper compensation of artists. Shutterstock is also among the companies planning to integrate the CAI standard Underlying Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) into its AI capabilities and various creative tools.
